Welcome to the Mentor 4 Moms Podcast!

On this episode:

It’s so easy to make success a goal. We want a successful career, a successful business, a successful family or marriage, etc.

It’s reasonable though. We want to be good in those areas that are the most important to us.

Our desire to be successful is a reflection of our internal need to feel like our life matters.

We want our work to matter.

We want  Our relationships and our time to focus on what’s really important.

But one piece we often miss is defining what success means.

One way to define success is to have a vision for your family. Go back and listen to episode #4, “Creating a Vision for Your Family,” to learn more about that.

Along with that. Defining success takes into account your life:

  • Your family
  • The season you’re in
  • Your personal capacity

Success cannot be about anyone else. Any definition of success that’s focused on comparing, keeps your focus on a moving target. It’s building your life on a poor foundation that’s constantly shifting.

When we look outward to define our own journey, we give our circumstances the power over our happiness and future.

Instead, let’s do something different

  1. Pray and ask God what success looks like in His eyes
  2. Open your mind to the possibilities of life
  3. Use gratitude as a source for endless reminders of success
  4. Allow yourself to believe that you are already successful and everything you do is not to BE successful but instead is a reflection of that fact

What will you use to measure success? Health? Well-being? Love? How about fun? Or giving? Wisdom? Contribution? There are so many measures that you can use that go way beyond money, or the car you drive, or the neighborhood you live in, or the school your kids attend.

Dare to dream it and then dare to live the life of your dreams.
