Welcome to the Mentor 4 Moms Podcast!
On this episode:
I’m talking about those moments when everyone else is happy about the news, but you’re not completely ready to celebrate yet. Moments when you can feel a transition, a shift in life, and because it’s not traumatic, or ‘bad’, no one expects your feeling of sadness.
- A move to a new city
- Going back to work
- Kids in a new school
- Launching kids off to college or adult life
- Marriage
- News of healing of a sickness – but you mourn the years lost and the pain that still remains
You’re not trying to be a downer or dampen the celebration, but you can’t help your true feelings. What can you do?
- Give yourself permission to feel what you feel.
- Create a safe place for your feelings and invite someone to join you there when you’re ready
- Give yourself permission to celebrate too. We’re complicated and an emotional mixed bag, and that’s okay.
- Acknowledge that this will pass.
- Prepare that more challenge will come. But you are strong. You are loved. You can handle the highs and the lows.
