Welcome to the Mentor 4 Moms Podcast!
On this episode:
Children are trying to understand the world around them. They are also trying to find their place in it.
In figuring it all out, they have questions, about seemingly EVERY-thing, and their questions can feel like personal challenges.
They may not just FEEL like personal challenges, they actually may be challenging your authority.
Speaking the truth to power is a worthy skill to develop within your children. It’s important to provide them with the guidance they need to navigate the nuances of relationships and communication:
- Understanding the difference between a friendly hug and a creepy one
- A sincere compliment vs. flattery with a pending request
- A friend in need vs. a person using your kindness
But when it comes to people in authority, it’s also important that we equip them to recognize:
- Adults make mistakes, too. They are not infallible.
- Everyone, even the people you look up to, will fail or mess up.
- Thoughts and opinions are different than facts.
- They are not God.
- Always take personal responsibility; you can’t blame parents or others for your life.
- Ask questions; seek to understand.
