Welcome to the Mentor 4 Moms Podcast!
On this episode:
Are you familiar with a vision board? It’s a visual way to display your hopes, dreams, and goals. Think of the old saying that a picture is worth a thousand words. A vision board is a fun way to be creative and full of possibility and potential.
Purpose: Create a visual representation of what lives in your heart.
Here is my vision board for 2019.
Let’s talk about a few practical ideas
Vision boards don’t have to be:
- Super cute, but they can be and that’s fun too!
- Super fancy with lots of colorful images from magazines
- A long drawn out art project
Possible ways to vision board:
- Using a piece of foam board or poster board – what I’ve done this year
- Use a piece of 8.5 x 11 scrapbook paper or a piece of card stock – my choice for 2018
- Or do a digital vision board
Things you’ll need for options 1 & 2 – physical vision boards
- Magazines- gather them from friends and family, no need to be new editions of the magazine, just need good pictures and good headlines for cutting out words.
- Glue sticks or tape roller, typically used in scrap-booking
- Scissors – multiple sizes if possible. You may need tiny ones to cut out a detailed pic or word
- Optional: stickers, washi tape, glitter, or other embellishments
For option #3 – digital
- You can use Pinterest, or Google Images search to gather images
- Use a program like MS Word, Canva, Pic Monkey, etc. to crop and resize images
- I still recommend to save and print a copy to have on hand, as well as a digital version
You can also do a vision board for your family, your business, with your kids, etc. I highly recommend that you do one that’s just for yourself. Then if you want a separate one for the family with input from everyone, that’s fun too!
Remember the purpose is to create a visual representation of what lives inside your heart.
Tie your vision board into your WOY (word of the year)
Be sure to check out the Episode 27, if you missed it. I talked about choosing your WOY, three simple ways to choose one, and how to keep up with your WOY throughout the year, one of which is using a vision board.
This year, my WOY is in the middle of my vision board.
Everyday I look at my vision board first thing when I wake up.
I hope you will give this a try.
First decide whether you will make a digital or physical board.
Set aside a little time over the weekend to create your board
Share with me on FB or IG how it went. I want to celebrate with you.
If self care is one of your goals this year, choosing a WOY and creating a vision board can be your first 2 steps in 2019 towards making that goal happen!
Stay tuned for next week’s episode where we are going to talk about using our WOY and Vision Board to make a more traditional goals list for 2019. It’s gonna be good.
