Welcome to the Mentor 4 Moms Podcast!
On this episode:
Let’s talk about goal setting.
This is for the mom who wants this year to be an intentional year.
Let’s break old patterns that no longer serve us.
Let go of the thoughts that lead to overwhelm:
-
If it’s to be, it depends on me
-
I’m too _____ (old, young, busy, overweight, skinny, tall, short, broke, etc)
-
I don’t have _______ (time, friends, money, a big enough house, the right degree, etc)
-
I need _______ before I can (a plan, all my questions answered, to research more, to get the opinion of my closest friends, my husband’s approval)
The moment you lean more on these thoughts is the moment you surrender your dreams to your fears. As you complete these statements you are identifying your own hesitations – those moments when you hold back instead of leaning in.
-
Clarity is a process, not a one time event
-
Opening up to the possibilities of life should be our ultimate goal
Goal setting is not
-
based on your circumstances
-
dependent on other people
Goal setting is
-
fail proof
-
accountability
-
a chance for self inquiry
When you set a goal, life is going to test you.
“Are you sure?”
Where we tend to mess this up is when we get asked the question and we think it’s a sign to back off or drop out or give up or avoid/run away.
Instead of answering the question, we allow our insecurities to speak louder than our strengths.
Take the time to answer that question. Problems are NOT necessarily a sign that you’re off track. They present you with a beautiful moment to gain clarity and recommit to the process.
Next week, let’s talk about creating a vision for the new year.
This is always the best place to start.
