This is one of my absolute favorite tools that I offer to parents. So far I have had the privilege to share with parents in the US, Canada, Rwanda, and more.

Today on the podcast, I’m answering some questions you may have after listening to Episode 22 – the full session on the Ten Questions.

For the past 14 years I have asked my own children these 10 Questions. When I first started my son was eight, my oldest daughter was 6 years old.

This annual tradition laid a foundation that tethered us together through the many changes that happen as they grow older and they’re trying to find their place in the world.

The connection formed in our 1-on-1 time tethered us together to ride out those storms and those changes and the shifts that are happening. We built a common bond through these conversations over the years that keep us in sync with one another, so that no matter the size of the storm, no matter the challenges they faced, they understood that I am for them, I accept them and I appreciate them.

In short, I love them.

That doesn’t mean I approve. Sometimes the choices they make are wonderful and other times not.

But in spite of the mistakes, the missteps, the missed opportunities, and misunderstandings, I love them and that will never change.

That is what these ten questions are able to create for you and your children so you too can experience the same tethering and the same connectedness.

On this episode I will answer common questions that parents ask when I speak at conferences and share this tool.

Questions like:

  • What if my child shares something that I need to deal with?
  • Should I do this with my spouse? Or is it best done 1-on-1?
  • How often should I ask these questions?
  • What if I see a need to do this more often?

I’ll also through in a few bonus tips:

  • What can create a break when you’re trying to create a bond.
  • What to do when you end the session.
